Gambassi Terme

Gambassi Terme, built on the remains of a medieval castle, is everything you would expect from a small village in the Florentine countryside.

The village features historic palaces and 17th-century gardens and closely guards the only spa in the province of Florence. The water used by the spa springs from a natural spring at a temperature of 15° and is known as Acqua Salsa di Pillo.

The thermal waters of Gambassi Terme were known since the Middle Ages by wayfarers and pilgrims for their many beneficial properties.

Pilgrims have always passed through Gambassi in large numbers as one of the most significant stops on the Via Francigena. Walking a stretch of it starting from the historic center, after passing through a picturesque scenery of vineyards, glimpses of Certaldo and San Gimignano, we reach another of the wonders that nature offers in Gambassi Terme, a hypothermal spring called ‘ Bollori’ in which the water gushes out at the natural temperature of 23°.

Between nature and cities of art

Gambassi terme represents a real strategic point for those who want to immerse themselves in the charm and essence of a perfect mix of nature, history, vineyards and cities of art.

In fact, in less than thirty minutes by car you can reach San Gimignano, Monteriggioni and Volterra.

In less than an hour’s drive you can reach Siena, Florence, Pisa and Livorno.

Gambassi is also just a few minutes away from Montaione, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, the renowned golf course of Castelfalfi and Certaldo, the birthplace of Giovanni Boccaccio.
